Jr.-Sr. High School Seniors, the Achievers, volunteer
throughout the Community, proving that “actions
speak louder the words”

Georgetown
Jr.-Sr. High School is in its fourth year of a grant through
the Ohio Department of Education’s Learn and Serve Ohio
Program. Senior high school students have the opportunity to
volunteer with various community organizations. The seniors
are full-time high school students who volunteer at a variety
of sites throughout the community. The program’s design
integrates school curriculum into organized community service
activities. The students’ active participation in community
service reinforces their classroom lessons. The course focuses
on the development of better citizens through the instruction
of skills in leadership, citizenship, life success and wellness;
within a structured interactive environment.
The Achievers have several new volunteer sites this year, as
the program continues to grow and mature in the Georgetown community.
This year’s sites are the Ohio Veterans, MeadowWood Nursing,
our Junior High and Elementary School, JVS, SWCD, Brown County
Hospital, Hospice of Hope, the Chamber of Commerce and Adams-Brown
Recycling Station.
