and Serve “Achievers” Volunteer throughout
the Community

Bergren and Zachary West, members of the Georgetown High School
Achievers Learn and Serve Program, have been volunteering during
this election year at one of the Georgetown election headquarters.
They are responsible for manning the information desk, signing
up new voters and other administrative record keeping. They
have elected to volunteer because they are both interested in
the electoral process. Abby and Zac plan to volunteer at the
polls on Election Day.
All
seniors in the Learn and Serve program are required to accomplish
a minimum of 120 volunteer hours which is tied to their academic
school work; it this case, citizenship. As volunteerism strengthens
the community, the participating students are actively preparing
themselves to be good citizens. Volunteerism has always played
a major role in building a strong community and Georgetown
is the better for their efforts.
