of Classroom Lessons

The
importance of recycling continues to grow at Georgetown Jr.-Sr.
High School. Members of the Learn and Serve Ohio, the “Achievers,”
are working to improve their recycling program. Working with
FFA students, several projects are programmed to improve the
current recycling program.
FFA and Learn and Serve Ohio students are
also collaborating on several environments projects that are
tied to the Achievers volunteer efforts with community organizations.
The Achievers, as part of Learn and Serve Ohio, have the opportunity
to learn and develop by actively applying their classroom
instruction when volunteering at various sites in the Georgetown
community.
One project recently completed by the FFA
is the container for temporary holding site for the recyclable
materials. Pictured, from left to right are several members
of the FFA and the Learn and Serve “Achievers;”
Devin Royalty, Darren Houston, J.K. Schadle and Adam Holland.
Adam is also the FFA President.
Again
this year, seventh grade students are assuming responsibility
for the weekly pick-up of paper and can (aluminum and plastics)
recyclables. Seventh grade volunteers will work on a rotational
basis, normally once a week during study lab. The “Achievers”
retain “host responsibility” for the seventh graders
efforts. Pictured from left to right are Tiffany Stewart,
Cheyanna Swafford, Stephanie Wilmoth, Michael Tucker, Spencer
Taylor, Jessie Steinman, Meranda Sullivan, Bruce Williams,
Logan Wrigglesworth, Allison Smith, Emily Werring and Kara
White.
