2010 Learn & Serve Ohio Recognition Award Winners

Bright Local School District

The Ohio Department of Education’s Learn and Serve Ohio staff would like to recognize and present the 2010 Learn and Serve Ohio Certificate of Recognition Award to Kara Juillerat for her commitment and leadership to service-learning in the Bright Local School District and community.

In a few short years Bright Local’s has truly embraced service-learning and is literally bridging the gap between the school and the community with a K-12 service-learning outdoor classroom for students, teachers and the community.

Bright Local involves over 70 classroom teachers, which allows them to integrate service-learning across the curriculum in a variety of subjects that include: computer technology, health, math, physical education, reading, science, Spanish, social studies, vocational agriculture, and writing. Therefore, providing over 810 students opportunities for challenging hands on curriculum, meaningful collaborations with other school districts, and fostering as many as 15 exciting supportive community partnerships. Kara has also done an outstanding job serving on the 2010 statewide Forging New Links Conference Committee.

Please join me in congratulating Kara Juillerat for receiving the 2010 Learn and Serve Ohio Certificate of Recognition Award!
